Who is he? Who is Salt Bae?

Salt Bae aka Nusret Gokce is a prominent Turkish butcher, Master chef and restauranteur who is based in UAE. He operates three restaurants in the UAE and is popularly known as Salt bae (by the time you know him).

As you know his real name is Nusret Gokce, you might also know that his technique went viral in 2017. The man is 37 years old and is born in Erzurum, Turkey. He has three siblings and his father was a mineworker.

The man grew up working as a butcher’s assistant. Nusret was keen to learn more about it and took the same business forward.
In three years between 2007-2010, Nusret went to some astounding countries like the United States and Argentina.
For most of the time, Nusret worked in restaurants for free. He was working for free to gain a good amount of experience as a restaurateur and cook.
Nusret was keen to work in this business and commenced his first restaurant, Steak House in Istanbul in 2010.
After working for 4 years in Istanbul, he opened a restaurant in Dubai in 2014.
Nusret is now an internet sensation, all thanks to his extraordinary skills in a video where he is cutting meat and sprinkling salt in a unique way.

Nusret is the owner of Nusr-Et, a series of royal and luxurious steakhouses. He first came to the world’s recognition through a social media post titled ‘Ottoman Steak’. The video was uploaded on his restaurant’s Twitter account in January 2017.

In it, the chef is smoothly slicing through a thick slab of steak before sprinkling it with salt. He then drops the grains onto his forearm and then onto the meat. The video went viral overnight. For now, there are around 18 steakhouse restaurants by Nusret. He also owns one burger joint in the Nusr-Et family. It is based across 15 locations:
